MilestonesBrief History of Our Company

2016

Foundation and Vision

Sahara Intelligent Orthoses Pvt Ltd was founded in 2016 by Mr. Abdul Saboor & Mr. Muhammad Usman Yousaf with a mission to redefine mobility solutions in Pakistan. From the very beginning, the company set out to address a fundamental gap in the local assistive technology ecosystem: the absence of reliable, service-backed mobility solutions. Built by engineers with a strong interest in robotics and human-centered design, Sahara iO began its journey with a long-term vision of combining technology, accessibility, and dignity for people with limited mobility.

2017

Product Research and Market Validation

In its first full year of operations, Sahara iO focused extensively on understanding user needs and market realities. This phase involved close engagement with mobility users, caregivers, and rehabilitation professionals to identify pain points related to comfort, safety, durability, and maintenance. Insights gained during this period shaped Sahara iO’s early product selection and service philosophy, ensuring solutions were not only technologically sound but also practical and accessible within the local context.

2018

Launch of Core Mobility Product Line

Sahara iO formally entered the market with its initial range of electric wheelchairs, alongside essential mobility aids. A defining milestone during this phase was the introduction of structured warranties and after-sales support—an uncommon practice in Pakistan’s assistive technology market at the time. This move established Sahara iO’s reputation as a trustworthy provider focused on long-term user support rather than one-off sales.

2019

Expansion of Services and Geographic Reach

As customer demand grew, Sahara iO expanded beyond its initial footprint by establishing display and service centers in multiple major cities. This allowed users to physically experience products, receive consultations, and access local technical support. The company also strengthened its logistics, enabling nationwide delivery and improved service responsiveness.

2020

Operational Strengthening and Portfolio Diversification

In 2020, Sahara iO focused on strengthening internal operations and expanding its product portfolio. New categories such as mobility scooters, patient lifters, commode chairs, and rollators were added to address a broader spectrum of mobility needs. This period also marked increased attention to spare-parts availability and technician training, ensuring consistent service quality despite operational challenges during the pandemic.

2021

Service Standardization and Customer Experience Focus

Building on operational improvements, Sahara iO standardized its service processes across locations. Emphasis was placed on customer education, product usage training, preventive maintenance, and lifecycle support. These efforts reinforced Sahara iO’s “Mobility as a Service” philosophy—positioning mobility solutions as an ongoing partnership with users rather than a transactional purchase.

2022

National Presence and Institutional Engagement

By 2022, Sahara iO had achieved a strong national presence, serving individuals, families, healthcare providers, and rehabilitation centers across Pakistan. The company increasingly engaged with institutional clients and organizations working in healthcare, disability inclusion, and rehabilitation, further expanding its impact beyond individual users.

2023

Transition Toward Advanced Assistive Technologies

With a solid commercial and service foundation in place, Sahara iO began transitioning toward more advanced assistive technologies. This included early-stage work on intelligent orthotic solutions, localized mobility accessories, and exploratory research into robotics-enabled mobility support. The focus shifted from distribution-led growth to innovation-driven evolution.

2024

Strengthening R&D and Long-Term Innovation Roadmap

In 2024, Sahara iO reinforced its commitment to research and development, aligning engineering capabilities with real-world mobility challenges. The company refined its long-term innovation roadmap, emphasizing intelligent orthoses, smart mobility systems, and locally adapted solutions designed to improve affordability, performance, and accessibility.

Present Day

Building the Future of Mobility in Pakistan

Today, Sahara iO stands as the pioneers in assistive and mobility technology in Pakistan. With a nationwide service footprint, a growing product ecosystem, and a forward-looking innovation agenda, the company continues to work toward its core purpose: enabling independence, inclusion, and improved quality of life for people with mobility limitations.
