Abdul Saboor

Abdul Saboor’s journey into assistive technology and mobility solutions began long before the founding of Sahara iO — rooted in engineering, innovation, and a deep commitment to serving the disabled community.

Between 2010 and 2014, Abdul pursued his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, during which he worked extensively on robotic and assistive devices. His academic focus culminated in a Final Year Project on the design and development of powered intelligent orthoses, an experience that shaped both his technical expertise and his long-term purpose. This early exposure to mobility challenges faced by people with disabilities laid the foundation for his passion to create meaningful, human-centered solutions.

After graduating in 2014, Abdul entered the industrial sector, where he spent the next two years (2014–2016) gaining hands-on experience in product development, operations, and management. Working in real-world manufacturing and operational environments strengthened his understanding of scalability, quality control, and customer-centric design — skills that would later prove critical in building a sustainable assistive technology enterprise.

In 2016, driven by the desire to translate engineering innovation into real societal impact, Abdul founded Sahara Intelligent Orthoses Pvt Ltd (Sahara iO). The company was established with a clear vision: to develop and deliver reliable, service-backed mobility solutions tailored to the needs of Pakistan’s underserved mobility ecosystem.

In 2022, Abdul was awarded the prestigious Australia Awards Scholarship, enabling him to move to Australia and complete his MBA at Melbourne Business School, Australia’s top-ranked business school. During his time abroad, he gained deep exposure to advanced healthcare systems, inclusive design principles, and mature mobility ecosystems, where assistive technology is seamlessly integrated into healthcare delivery, insurance frameworks, urban planning, and long-term after-sales support.

This international experience further refined Abdul’s strategic outlook, allowing him to blend global best practices with local realities. In 2024, he returned to Pakistan and formally rejoined Sahara iO as Strategy Lead, with a renewed focus on strengthening the company’s impact, scaling its operations, and advancing innovation within Pakistan’s mobility and assistive technology landscape.

Today, Abdul Saboor continues to lead Sahara iO’s strategic direction, drawing on his background in engineering, industry, entrepreneurship, and international education to help build a more inclusive, reliable, and future-ready mobility ecosystem for Pakistan.
